Our August BBQ was a fantastic evening, we welcomed hundreds of guests. Simba Mtoto (baby lion in Kiswahili) our resident East African band played live music up untill 23.00.

The Shamba garden was built at the BBC Gardeners World Show at the N.E.C in Birmingham, to show the type of plants and food crops which the average rural Kenyan person grows in their garden, Shamba in Swahili.

This garden built in conjunction with Birmingham City Council depicts the flora, both natural and introduced of Kangaroo island off the coast of Australia. The garden is packed full of Palms, Proteas, Anigozanthus and tough seaside Grasses. The garden begins in tropical rainforest leading down to a fine white sandy beach. The RHS awarded us with a Silver Guilt medal.

At Akamba, you'll find four acres packed with fun for children of all ages. This includes our African aviary, nature trail, play area, pet zoo, café and the fabulous tropical house, filled with a wealth of animals, butterflies and birds.
