We are passionate about African Art; and that is demonstrated by the pieces
we purchase.

We do not rely on intermediaries. We hand select the finest pieces direct from
original artists in a variety of African nations. This not only ensures that our high
standards are maintained but that the benefits to the craftsmen concerned
are maximised.

We make every endevour to select pieces
made from trees harvested from managed
and sustainable forests. We will not knowingly
sell products from endangered species,
such as tropical hardwoods.

The AKAMBA giftshop is a sensory feast,
full of colour, texture and smell. This really
does epitomise Nelson Mandela's concept
of rainbow nations.

African art is very tactile. We encourage our visitors to use all thier senses to obtain a real impression of the dark continent. Sight, touch, smell, hearing and even taste of our goods will enhance their Akamba experience.

We have masks and figures from all over Africa. In addition we have carved animals
from a few centimetres to three metres in height. There is a wide selection of printed
and woven fabrics, cushions, pillows and bedspreads. A wide variety of both traditional and contemporary jewellery is augmented by tribal spears and shields; soap stone carvings, pottery, cards and other unusual gifts.

If you feel spoilt for choice, do not despair. You may always solve your gift problems
by purchasing Akamba gift vouchers.

We also have a PICTURE GALLERY containing many rare and unusual African themed prints, maps and paintings.

Why not visit our TRIBAL GALLERY
This will give many visitors their first
look at traditional African tribal art as
well as contemporary abstract art.
